Sometimes I think that I must have walked into a No Frolic area without seeing the sign. People try to curb your enthusiasm by staring and looking cold. Maybe it is noise that they are disturbed by, but not always. I know when to quietly frolic.
I am talking about being at a hockey game and having other fans, of the same team, turn and give the icey stare. If you cannot frolic at a sporting event then when can you frolic.
Have you every been caught in a "no-frolic" zone? [2]

Well, you would think that this would have developed in the Southeast United States. Doctors in Scotland fear for the arteries of locals that follow up their fish and chips with a deep-fried Mars bar.
I tried to fry a pickle once but I had seen that done before. The batter kept slipping off of mine.
What is the weirdest thing you ever fried? [5]

This announcement caused an uproar in the Silicon valley community of Sunnyvale, Cal.
Why should it? Do people expect that Christians should not try to make the case that it it truly the Way?
I really do not understand what the fuss is about. Do you know? [1]

First, sorry about the lack of updates here. It will be at least a week before there is another update also, so just be ready for that.
I will be in Montego Bay, Jamaica building a house with four other members of my church and we have five working days to get the job done.
Anyway the flight leaves in six and a half hours and I am still packing. I will return the evening of the 20th with undeveloped film and loads of stories.
This will be my second mission trip to Jamaica. Here are some pictures from the first trip. One day I will figure out how to do updates from the mission field. But until then you will just have to wait.

California pastor Dwight Sullivan has a part time job that keeps him glowing. Sullivan collects fireflies for medical research and testing.
Scientists at the Analytical Luminescence Lab in Baltimore buy bugs in good condition for 35 cents a gram, close to ten dollars per ounce. They use the glowing enzyme found in the insects in medical experiments and to detect bacteria in food.
The bugs found in Tennesee are prefered by the scientists and so Dwight Sullivan makes a trip back to his boyhood home in Oak Ridge, Tenn. to travel the state and coordinate collection efforts.

It is from far away but it could be from anywhere. Even here.
FLINT, Mich. – A group of children hunting for Easter eggs Saturday during a church event found two loaded handguns outside an elementary school.

It is the kind of news that you hate to hear but you also know that it means that we are getting on top of this thing.
JACKSON, Ms.—A Mississippi man is being held hostage in Iraq by insurgents who have threatened to kill and mutilate him if U.S. troops don’t withdraw from Fallujah, relatives said Saturday.

BEIJING: China has tried three underground church leaders in secret for exposing a crackdown against Christians just days after it passed a constitutional amendment to protect human rights. Liu Fenggang, Xu Yonghai and Zhang Shengqi were tried on Tuesday at the Intermediate Peoples Court of Hangzhou in eastern Zhejiang province, Xu’s wife Li Shanna and New York-based Human Rights in China (HRIC) said. Originally charged with “inciting the gathering of state secrets,” the three Christians were brought to trial on amended charges of “providing intelligence to organizations outside of China.”
At a time when western countries are calling for human rights action in China, the christian church is being persecuted.
What would you do as a Christian leader in a situation like that? Boldly proclaim in the face of persecution (Acts 4) or protect the church and go underground?

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – City officials were so concerned about the potentially dangerous properties of dihydrogen monoxide that they considered banning foam cups after they learned the chemical was used in their production. Then they learned, to their chagrin, that dihydrogen monoxide —H2O for short —is the scientific term for water.
Of course it is deadly if breathed and can be addictive to people that have become accustomed to it. But I think this is a case of keeping the paralegal at work too long, time for a day off.

The victims in Monday’s attack were Baptist missionaries of the Virginia-based Southern Baptist International Mission Board. Hospital officials said two of the dead were women. A spokesman for US occupation forces in Mosul said the missionaries were travelling in one car when they came under attack.
The places that missionaries go can be very dangerous but I love what they are trying to do.
The presence of missionaries in the majority-Muslim country is highly resented by locals as another element of foreign interference. About 100 are reported to have entered Iraq since Baghdad fell last April. The International Bible Society has distributed 10,000 books in Arabic, titled Christ has brought peace.
What do you think?
Do you see their death as a tragedy or heroic?
